Buenos Noches!

I hardly EVER get the urge to blog about things but today I randomly did! My roomies will be so proud of me. Most people who will read this already know of my recent mission call- but because I really enjoy telling people- I would like to officially announce that I am going to the NEW YORK CITY NORTH MISSION!!! I leave on May 6th and will be speaking spanish! AHHH I can't wait! Basically all I can say that the past month or so has been very exciting for me. I have felt an overwhelming and intense sense of gratitude for the opportunity I have to just go and serve! What a unique and yet wonderful experience. And more than anything, I just KNOW this is what I need to be doing in my life- and that gives me the confidence I need to move forward with this huge step of my life :) And what makes it really fun is that I have several friends that are preparing themselves to serve missions. What an exciting time!!

A few stories about spanish:
1. My sister speaks much more Spanish than me and came over the other night with a roll of tape and sharpies and labeled my entire bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen with Spanish words! Now every time I go to get in bed, or dry my hair, I try to read the labels and learn what they mean. Can't guarantee my pronunciation is perfect, but it's fun to pretend.
2. While I don't know much Spanish, I have been around it enough living in Arizona and with both of my parents speaking it, etc. to know some key phrases and very limited vocabulary. Anyways- the other night I came home from the gym and a guy from our ward was on the grassy knoll and I briefly said hello to which he replied, "Buenos Noches!" I, being somewhat deaf, didn't hear what he said and so I said, "what?" When he realized that I didn't understand what he said, he kindly and somewhat condescendingly said to me, "Oh, that is spanish for good night. Don't worry- you'll learn." hahaha I felt so dumb because I know what that means but just couldn't hear him. It was pretty funny though.
